Family Friendly Museum Awards 2017 #FFMA17

On Monday 2 October, we were delighted to be invited to London as a shortlisted museum in the annual Family Friendly Museum Awards! After a very engaging passionate speech from TV presenter and writer Philip Mould, who was thrilled with the continual work that Kids in Museums have undertaken over the years, the tension built with the winner being announced just before 1pm…

Congratulations must be given to People’s History Museum in Manchester, who are officially the most Family Friendly Museum in the UK for 2017! We admire your School Living History Workshops and year-long programme of engaging family events.

We are thrilled to have been nominated and shortlisted for such a prestigious award, and we would like to thank all the families that have nominated us, and we hope to continue to engage with, educate and hopefully even inspire you for many years to come.

We shall continue our work of getting young people into cultural venues, in our bid to be named UK City of Culture 2021. You can support our campaign using #Swansea2021 on social media.

Our next Kids in Museums engagement event for young people will be #TakeoverDay on 9 November, where you can expect to see some of younger visitors get involved in behind the scenes work of running the ‘Love the Words’ exhibition and developing new sensory family friendly resources for visitors.
