"Welcome to the official website in honour of my father, Dylan Thomas. I hope it will inspire you to enjoy more of my father's works and to discover more about his and my mother Caitlin's lives. I have waited years for a website like this to become a reality and I am proud to be associated with it."
Aeronwy Thomas

Dylan was born on October 27, 1914 at No 5, Cwmdonkin Drive in Swansea, and died on November 9, 1953 in St Vincent's Hospital, New York. During his lifetime he wrote many great poems, including 'Fern Hill', 'The hunchback in the park' and of course 'Do not go gentle into that good night'. He is also famous for writing the 'play for voices' Under Milk Wood, and the collection of stories, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog.

This site is intended to promote Dylan's poetry and prose for both enjoyment and educational purposes. You will find the fullest chronology of Dylan's life yet published, which has been researched over the last five years, and is illustrated with quotes from his work. Other parts of the site have further information on Dylan's "craft or sullen art", and on literature written about him.

"My birthday began with the water -
Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my name
Above the farms and the white horses
         And I rose
     In rainy autumn
And walked abroad in a shower of all my days"

'Poem in October' from Dylan Thomas' Collected Poems  ( London: Phoenix, 2003)
