Love the Words

Hello and welcome to our blog – we hope you’ll love the words!

We’ll be posting updates on our events and activities, writing about some of our favourite work by Dylan, and exploring some of the treasures in our Dylan Thomas Collection.

Our new, permanent exhibition, ‘Love the Words’, opened on 27th October 2014, which was Dylan’s 100th birthday. Since then, we’ve welcomed visitors from as far afield as Korea, Australia, Canada, and Brazil, and have launched a new programme of participatory activities for all ages to enjoy.

The title of the exhibition comes from the advice Dylan gave his first ever cast for Under Milk Wood. The play’s premier full performance took place in New York on 14 May 1953, and the American actors, nervous before going on stage, recalled that Dylan’s only instruction to them was to ‘love the words’.

As well as visiting the exhibition, there are plenty of other opportunities to love the words this autumn, with an exciting programme lined up for the Dylan Thomas Festival, which will be closely followed by another of our annual highlights – a reading from Carol Ann Duffy and Gillian Clarke. Book early!
