donotgo-widgetAmongst the smorgasbord of great acts at this year’s Do Not Go Gentle Festival are:

Billy Rowan a.k.a.THE UNDERCOVER HIPPY who will be bringing his unique blend of folk, reggae, & hip-hop. Think Jason Mraz meets The Cat Empire…on a protest march…at the Edinburgh Fringe and you get the idea.

Stand-up poet LUKE WRIGHT has just stormed the Edinburgh Fringe, where his new show “What I learned from Johnny Bevan” won The Scotsman Fringe First Award as well as one of the The Stage Awards for Acting Excellence.

MIKE GARRY has been described by iconic designer Peter Saville as “a genius”. He has just supported John Cooper Clarke on his UK tour and regularly performs with bands I am Kloot, Badly Drawn Boy and The Fall.

There will also be a screening of the Swansea shot film – SET FIRE TO THE STARS – starring Elijah Woods. Followed by a Q&A with actor/writer CELYN JONES, who’s just been nominated for a BAFTA Cymru.

JOHNNY FLUFFYPUNK possessed by the spirit of a 17th century Ranter, Jonny began his ‘career’ spitting vicious political verse between bands at punk gigs until cured by a West Country shaman – since when, armed with his trusty banjolele, he has charmed audiences with his unique blend of poems; songlets; surreal banter; off-kilter observation and bitter autobiography.

BALSAMO/DEIGHTON are Steve Balsamo & Rosalie Deighton. They met when Rosalie supported Steve’s highly regarded country/rock band The Storys. When the band called it a day, after having toured with the likes of Elton John, Santana, Celine Dion and Joe Cocker, Steve and Rosalie joined forces. They have been writing folk/country/americana songs together for a little while and have just finished they’re debut album.
