Rwy’n cofio’r tro cyntaf i mi ymweld \u00e2 Chanolfan Dylan Thomas: prynais CD Richard Burton yn darllen llinellau o gerddi Dylan Thomas ac eisteddais yn y caffi yn bwyta browni siocled. Y gerdd a oedd wedi cael yr effaith fwyaf arnaf yn y casgliad oedd ‘And death shall have no dominion’, llais cyfoethog Burton yn cyfuno \u00e2’r rhythm hypnotig a’r byrdwn pwerus. Rwyf wedi bod yn gweithio yn y ganolfan am ddeng mlynedd a dyma un o fy hoff gerddi gan Dylan Thomas o hyd.<\/p>\n

Roedd yn ddiddorol gweld mai dyma un o gerddi cynharaf Dylan Thomas, wedi’i hysgrifennu ar \u00f4l i’w ffrind, Bert Trick, awgrymu y dylai’r ddau ohonynt ysgrifennu cerdd am ‘anfarwoldeb’. Mae tri phennill, pob un yn naw llinell o hyd. Credir bod y byrdwn, sy’n dechrau ac yn gorffen pob pennill, yn dod o epistol 6:9 Paul i’r Rhufeiniaid, ‘Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.’ \u00a0Mae’r pennill cyntaf yn disgrifio parhad yr enaid wedi marwolaeth, gyda ‘stars at elbow and foot’. Mae’r ail yn awgrymu, ni waeth pa galedi a ddioddefwyd gan y corff, mae’r enaid yn goroesi’n naturiol.
