The Dylan Thomas Centre Café is open for Business
The Dylan Thomas Centre, in Swansea’s Maritime Quarter, is one of the city’s most iconic buildings. Since it opened in 1825, the building has led a varied and interesting existence and has been used as the town Guildhall, a juvenile employment centre and a college of further education over the years.
Last year the University of Wales took over the lease of building and has significantly invested in renovations at the Centre, improving and expanding facilities, whilst also ensuring that the Dylan Thomas offering is further enhanced and ready for the centenary of his birth this coming October.
Now a multi-purpose venue open to host a range of events and functions, the new facilities at the Centre also include incubation space for businesses that are interested in establishing presence in Swansea, and is home to one of High Performance Computing (HPC) Wales’ world-class supercomputing hubs.
As part of these exciting renovations, the Café at the Dylan Thomas Centre is now open for business.
Opened in July, this warm and welcoming café can seat just fewer than 40 people. Situated in the main foyer, next to the exhibition, it is open from 10am to 4pm daily serving homemade cakes, scones, freshly brewed Dylan Thomas Centenary blend coffee, warming soup, and salads and sandwiches freshly made to order by our full time chef.
The café has a full and varied high quality menu and offers great breakfast and lunchtime deals such as a Bacon sandwich and hot drink for £2.50. There is also a children’s menu, with a fantastic children’s meal deal for only £3.50.
The café is perfect for everyone, from tourists and visitors to the centre having a leisurely lunch, to office workers in the area popping in for a takeaway sandwich.
